Emeterio González

Emeterio González Silva ( born April 11, 1973 in San Juan y Martínez ) is a former Cuban javelin thrower.

At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he was eliminated in the qualifying.

In each case he was seventh at the World Championships in 1997 in Athens and the 1999 World Cup in Seville, and at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he finished eighth.

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton and 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis, he failed to qualify.

At the Pan American Games he won in 1995 in Mar del Plata, 1999 in Winnipeg and 2003 in Santo Domingo, as well as gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1998. Besides, he was in 1997 and 2005 Central American and Caribbean champion.

His personal best jump of 87.12 meters ( Cuban record ) he scored in Jena on June 3, 2000.

In December 2007, he ended his active career by participating in an international athletics tournament in Havana. He was then hired as a consultant in the National Athletics Commission. In 2000 he completed his university studies in sport and was inducted into the Communist Party of Cuba.
