Emika

Emika (actually Ema Jolly, * 1986) is a British musician. Their music can be assigned to the genres of dubstep and trip hop.

Life

Ema Jolly, daughter of an Englishman and a Czech, grew up in Milton Keynes.

She received a classical music training on the piano and in composition. Later, she studied music technology and worked among others as a sound designer and as an intern at the music label Ninja Tune, before she began her career as a musician. In 2007 she moved to Berlin.

Their debut album was released in 2011 on Ninja Tune Emika. 2013 was followed by the second album Dva.
