Émile Levassor

Émile Levassor ( born January 21, 1843 in Marolles -en- Hurepoix, department of Essonne, † April 14, 1897 in Paris) was a French automobile pioneer and racers.

Émile Levassor completed his engineering degree from the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures (now the École Centrale Paris) 1864.

He worked in a sawmill, he met René Panhard and they decided to build automobiles. Your first car called Panhard et Levassor and was completed in 1890 and operated by a motor of Daimler -Motoren-Gesellschaft.

As automotive developers they created some innovations. Among other things, they combined the first front-engine rear-wheel drive.

Émile Levassor also took on our own vehicles to the first car race in part, he was fifth in the race Paris -Rouen in 1894 and won the race Paris -Bordeaux-Paris 1895 Panhard Levassor &, but crashed at Paris- Marseille- Paris in 1896 difficult.
