Emily Robison

Emily Robison, born Erwin ( born August 16, 1972 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts) is an American musician. Robison is a founding and current member of the country band Dixie Chicks. She is the younger sister of Martie Maguire. She is a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist. Emily playing banjo, dobro, guitar, bass, mandolin, accordion, and sitar.

Life

Emily is the daughter of Barbara Trask and Paul Erwin. She grew up in Addison ( Texas), a suburb of Dallas. She has two older sisters, Julia was born in 1967 and Martie was born in 1969.

In May 1999, Emily married the country singer Charlie Robison. In the time of the marriage, she wrote very romantic hit " Cowboy Take Me Away " for him. She has three children and after nine years of marriage, she is divorced since August 2008.

Early career

Emily began playing the violin at the age of seven and learned banjo at the age of ten years. Later, she learned all the stringed instruments which they could lay hands on, and finally accordion.

From 1984 to 1989 she played with her sister Martie, a classmate and Sharon Gilchrist in the set up by such fours teenage Gluegrass group with the name " Blue Night Express". After she graduated from high school Martie Greenhill School ( Addison, Texas). Even after graduation, while studying she stayed in the group still active.

In 1989, after a guest with the previous group to bluegrass festivals and street music had made, she and her sister Martie, the guitarist Robin Lynn Macy and Laura Lynch, the bassist of the alternative country band Dixie Chicks.

In her previous career with the Dixie Chicks, she limited to her singing as a background singer, but in her latest album " Court Yard Hounds ", along with her sister Martie, she has assumed the role of lead singer.
