Emma Orczy

Baroness Emma ( Emmuska ) Orczy (* September 23, 1865, † November 12, 1947 in Henley -on-Thames ), actually Baroness Emma Orczy Magdolna Rozalia Mária Jozefa Borbála de Orczi, was a British writer and painter of Hungarian origin.

Life

Her father was Baron Felix Orczy from the noble Orczy.

Her best known work is The Scarlet Pimpernel, which was filmed in 1934 with Leslie Howard in the leading role ( The Scarlet Flower) and served as template for the 1997 musical premiered in The Scarlet Pimpernel.
