Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson ( born April 15, 1959 in London) is a British actress, producer, screenwriter and multiple Golden Globe and Academy Award winner.

Life and work

Thompson is the daughter of actress Phyllida Law and actor, director and television producer Eric Thompson. Her younger sister, Sophie Thompson, a famous child star is also an actress. Mother Phyllida occasionally plays in movies her eldest daughter Emma.

During her English studies at Newnham College, Cambridge played Thompson Theatre and met with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in sketches, then she was a professional actress. After appearances in the British comedy show " Alfresco " and the musical Me and My Girl 1987 she got her own TV sitcom Thompson. The year before, she had met during filming for the BBC television series Fortunes of War ( Goodbye in Cairo), the actor and director Kenneth Branagh.
