Emory Cohen

Emory Isaac Cohen (born 13 March 1990 in New York City, New York ) is an American actor. He is best known for his portrayal of AJ in the U.S. film drama The Place Beyond the Pines and the participation in the television series Smash.

Life

Emory Cohen was born in March 1990 in New York City. He graduated from the Elisabeth Irwin High School, and then took to study acting at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He played his first role in the 2008 film Afterschool, who had at the International Film Festival of Cannes 2008 in Un Certain Regard premiere. In 2009 he had a short unaufgeführte role in the episodic film New York, I Love You and in the movie The Hungry Ghosts his first starring role in a feature film. For his performance in Four Cohen won in 2012 along with his castmates the Audience Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Also in 2012 he starred in the film drama The Place Beyond the Pines and Nor'easter. From 2012 to 2013 he took over the role of Leo, the son of the main character, Julia Houston ( Debra Messing ) on the NBC musical TV show Smash.
