Emperor Heizei

Heizei (Japanese平城 天皇, Heizei - tennō; born August 15, 774, 824 † August 5 ) was the 51st Tennō of Japan ( 806-809 ). He was the first son of Kammu - tennō and his wife Fujiwara no Otomuchi (?). His proper name was Prince Ote later Prince Ate. In Japanese classical music, he was also called Nara no Mikado ( Emperor of Nara ).

He handed the throne because of an illness the Crown Prince and his younger brother Emperor Saga and moved to Nara. After this also fell ill, he attempted a coup, but was bloodily suppressed.
