Emre Gönensay
Emre Gönensay ( born 1937 in İstanbul ) is a Turkish economist, bureaucrat, politician and former Foreign Minister of Turkey.
Gönensay graduated from Robert College and Columbia University. At Columbia University, he wrote his master's thesis and at the London School of Economics, his doctoral thesis. He then worked at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi as a university teacher of economics. Between 1972 and 1976 Gönensay Board was of the Faculty of labor administration and economics. Between 1970 and 1980 he was Director General in major Turkish companies and banks. Between 1991 and 1993 he was Plenipotentiary of the consultant of the Prime Minister. Between 1993 and 1995 Gönensay was Plenipotentiary of the consultant of the President. Between December 1994 and 1995 he was again Plenipotentiary of the consultant of the Prime Minister.
In the parliamentary elections of 1995 Gönensay was elected as a deputy of the province of Antalya for the Yol Partisi Doğru the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Between March 6, 1996 and June 28, 1996 Gönensay was foreign minister.
In the 55th Bilderberg Meeting in June 2007 in İstanbul Gönensay was one of 13 Turkish participants.
Gönensay is currently Hofschulprofessor at Işık Üniversitesi.
