Emre Taner

Emre Taner ( born 1942 in Diyarbakır ) was head of the Turkish domestic intelligence service Millî istihbarat Teşkilâtı ( WİTH ).

Taner graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University. Since 1967, Taner is active in WİTH. After his role as head of the Bursa region, he was promoted in 1984 to head of the İstanbul region. In 1987 he was promoted to head of the intelligence department. 1992 Emre Taner was Deputy Secretary of State. 1994 Taner worked for the WİTH abroad. On 7 April 1999 Taner was appointed deputy operations director. Between June 2005 and May 2010 he was head of the " Millî istihbarat Teşkilâtı ". He is a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue with as open-minded and has good Konktakte to nordirakisch -Kurdish leadership.
