Energinet.dk

Energinet.dk (abbreviation ENDK ) is a Danish transmission system operators for gas and electricity. The resulting 2005 through a merger company is wholly owned by the state and has its corporate headquarters in Erritsø on Jutland.

History and investments

Energinet.dk created by the merger of power company eltra, Elkraft system and Elkraft transmission with the natural gas network operator Gastra. The merger was completed on 24 August 2005 and entered retroactive effect from 1 January 2005. Energinet.dk is fully owned by the Danish state, and is managed by the Danish Ministry of Energy.

Activities

Energinet.dk operates the transmission networks for gas and electricity in Denmark. This includes a 860 km long gas pipeline network through which a year about 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas flow (91 TWh in 2008). Energinet.dk has two control centers, one for gas and for electricity. The gas control center can serve as a substitute in an emergency control center for the current operation, and vice versa.

The company itself operates the high-voltage lines (400 kV) in Denmark. The high voltage grid is connected to dome transformers with the regional distribution (132 and 150 kV), which is operated by the subsidiary Regional Net.dk. About interconnectors ENDK the network is connected to the national and European grid. The HVDC Great Belt Power Link, a high-voltage direct current (HVDC ) is operated by Energinet.dk. Energinet.dk is a partner in interconnectors to Sweden ( conti- Skan ), Norway (Cross - Skagerrak ) and Germany ( Kontek ), through which the networks of Svenska Kraftnät, Statnett and 50 Hertz are connected. The ENDK - control zone area on the German - Danish border connected to the grid of TenneT. A submarine cables at TenneT network in the Netherlands is planned. 2008 were transferred to the electricity transmission network 47 TWh.

Energinet is the only Danish company ever in the Association of European Transmission System Operators ( ENTSO -E) and the Association of European Transmission System Operators for Gas ( ENTSOG ).
