Engelhard Pargätzi

Engelhard " Harta " Pargätzi ( born July 31, 1949 in Arosa ) is a retired Swiss ski racer. He was active in the 1970s and specializes in the discipline of giant slalom. Today, he works as an entrepreneur.

Biography

The son of an official of the Rhaetian railway ran at the age of four years for the first time skiing, be a role model in his youth was the, also from Arosa Roger dust. From 1972 to 1977 Pargätzi was able to score in the Ski World Cup, he went almost exclusively giant slalom and placed himself there 20 times in the top ten. At the World Championships 1974 in St. Moritz, he finished fifth in the giant slalom and was the best Swiss.

On December 14, 1975 Pargätzi won his only World Cup race, the giant slalom of the 3 - Tre race in Madonna di Campiglio. In the same season he reached two more podium finishes with the third ranks of Copper Mountain and Adelboden. Until the last race of the season Pargätzi preserved the chance of winning the giant slalom standings. In the crucial passage, however, opened a ski binding and he left. He finished fourth in the disciplines and tenth in the overall standings.

At the Olympic Winter Games 1976 in Innsbruck Pargätzi drove in the giant slalom in spite of a rough riding mistake ( he passed a door from the wrong side, so he drew the displeasure of standing on the scene Director of the Swiss Ski Federation, Adolf Ogi on it) on the sixth place. His sports career, he had to finish in World Cup races because of a torn ACL in the following year after a further three routings in the top ten.

Following the resignation Pargätzi was an entrepreneur in various industries. The skilled machinist was, among other owner of a sporting goods store in Chur, representative of Skivertriebsfirma Snowlife, sales manager of the sporting goods manufacturer Puma in eastern Switzerland, as well as Marketing Manager and Product Manager of two helicopter companies. Today Pargätzi is the owner of the company Pargätzi event construction that provides container boxes for TV stations, timing equipment, etc. are available at major international events. He is also a board member of the regional organization Schanfigg Tourism Board and the ski lifts at Hochwang.
