Engelhardia spicata

Engelhardia spicata is occurring in East and Southeast Asia species from the family of the walnut family ( Juglandaceae ).

Features

Engelhardia spicata is a 20 m tall tree with pairs, rarely unpaired pinnate, 15-35 cm long leaves. The petiole is 2.5 to 11.5 cm long, glabrous or hairy. The 4-14 leaflets are entire, sessile or stalked, hairy, fed supports wide at the base, short acuminate at the tip. Sit inconspicuous glands shed at the bottom.

Bloom time is from November to April.

The fruits are small, spherical to ovoid nuts 3-6 mm in size. The central wing is 2.5 to 3.5 cm long, the lateral 1.5 to 2 cm. Fruit ripening is from January to August (rarely to November).

Dissemination

Engelhardia spicata is found in China, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. It grows in forests on mountain slopes or in valleys from sea level up to 2100 m above sea level.
