Engin Arık

Engin Arık ( born October 14, 1948 in Istanbul, Turkey, † November 30, 2007 at Keçiborlu, Turkey) was a Turkish physicist. She was a professor and head of the experimental group for particle physics at Bosphorus University.

Professional career

Arık studied and made in 1969 at Istanbul University degree in mathematics and physics. In 1971 she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh a M.Sc. and 1976 their Ph. D.. She continued her studies at the Westfield College, University of London.

In 1979 she returned to Turkey and became a faculty member at Bosphorus University in Istanbul. In 1983, she left the university for two years, during which she worked for Control Data Corporation. 1988 Arık professor at Bosphorus University.

Between 1997 and 2000 took Arık for the Turkish government to participate in the meetings of the Comprehensive Nuclear -Test-Ban Treaty at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA) of the United Nations in Vienna.

She worked at CERN in Switzerland to ATLAS and the CAST experiment.

Private

She was married to Metin Arık, who has worked as a professor at the same faculty Bosphorus University. From this marriage two children were born. Arık was ( 4203 Atlasjet flight ) were killed in a plane crash on 30 November 2007.
