The machine crashed in 2007

Atlasjet Flight 4203 was a scheduled domestic flight of the Turkish airline Atlasjet from Istanbul Kemal Ataturk Airport to Süleyman Demirel Airport in Isparta -. The aircraft crashed on 30 November 2007 outside the city Keçiborlu, against 01:36 clock EET ( 23:36 UTC clock on 29 November ). The approximately 370 -kilometer-long domestic flight raised in Istanbul at 00:50 local time clock with 57 people on board from, including a six- week-old infant who was not originally performed in flight manifest, which initially led to divergent reports of the number of victims. The CEO of Atlasjet, Tuncay Doganer told the press that none of the people survived aboard the crash.

In the plane it was a McDonnell Douglas MD -83, the Atlasjet had rented from World Focus Airlines. The crew on board, was flying the aircraft at the time of the crash, came from World Focus Airlines.

Also, the nuclear physicist Engin Arık and five other scientists were on the way to a physicist conference in Isparta on board the aircraft.

Crash site

The crash site was located in a rugged terrain, about 12 kilometers from Isparta airport. The wreckage of the plane broke into two pieces. The wing and both engines of the machine lay on top of a mountain, while the body of the machine about 150 meters deep came to rest. Luggage and debris were widely distributed. Many victims were, in part, thrown together with their seats, where they were strapped from the plane. The first reports that the crash site was not on the normal flight path and also not in the line of approach to the planned landing site. "It is impossible to understand how they could get there ," the governor of the province of Isparta expressed.

Investigations

The investigating authorities hid the day after the crash, the two flight recorders ( flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder). The weather conditions were good at the time of the crash and visibility was 12 kilometers. The accident occurred shortly after the pilot had announced that it will put in for a landing. Pilot and copilot were considered experienced. The plane went down without a distress call was done. According to the airline Atlasjet there were no technical problems with the aircraft with registration TC- AKM and the serial number 53185/2090. The aircraft was put into service in 1994 and equipped with two engines of the type Pratt & Whitney JT8D -219.
