England and Wales Cricket Board

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB ) is responsible for England and Wales national cricket association. It was created on 1 January 1997, replacing the Test and County Cricket Board ( TCCB ), the National Cricket Association (NCA ) and the Cricket Council. It has its seat at Lord 's Cricket Ground in London, owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club.

The British parts of the country Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own cricket associations, in the case of Northern Ireland in an all-Ireland Association.

The most powerful organ of the ECB until 2005 he was the First Class Forum, consisting of the 18 first-class counties and the MCC. After the abolition of the line is up to a 15-member management board and three working committees.

The most important task of the association, except for the youth development is the organization of the England team, as opposed to football, for example, much more concentrated by far the public's interest on the national team as the club teams.

The preparation of the English national team is traditionally in the hands of a Selection Committee. Its members are below including the Chairman, the Chairman of Selectors ( 2007 David Graveney ) and the head coach of the national team ( 2007, Peter Moores ), and after the English system and the captain ( 2007, Michael Vaughan ). This and so-called centrally contracted players for several years no longer in their counties, but the association hired, what has contributed significantly after some initial resistance of the county, generally considered the resurgence of the England team.

A new device for the promotion of young talents Cricket is the ECB National Academy, which is currently based at the University of Loughborough.

The lion's share of the revenue for the association, and in particular the 18 first-class counties, comes from the television rights for international matches. Without the regular turning to the ECB by many County clubs would hardly financially viable.
