England Hockey

England Hockey is the National Hockey Association in England. Scotland and Wales have their own associations, Northern Ireland with the Republic of Ireland is a common association.

Organization

England Hockey is a member of the European Hockey Federation (EHF ) and the International Hockey Federation (FIH ). The association organizes the sport in the English top field hockey league, the England Hockey League.

The second level of hockey organization in England consists of six regional associations - East, Midlands, North Hockey Association, South, West and the Combined Services. Are arranged including the district associations ( county associations ).

While in the United Kingdom there for hockey separate national associations and teams, occur at the Olympic Games organized by Great Britain Hockey to British teams. Is by the disappointing performance of the British team since winning the gold medal of men at the 1988 Olympics came to tensions between the various associations.

The England national team wore their home games at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes from. However, a factor in the insolvency of the EHA were the maintenance cost of this stadium. The stadium is currently leased to the football club Milton Keynes Dons and is not used for hockey games. International matches found either in club stadiums or rented stages of other sports played.

History

The first English Hockey Association, the Hockey Association (HA ), was founded on April 10, 1875 with 7 clubs ( Teddington, Richmond, Surbiton, Sutton, East Surrey, Upper Tooting, The Strollers ) and broke up again in 1882. The re- establishment took place on 18 January 1886. HA was 1896, the first set of rules for hockey out. Only in 1970, the HA joined together with the Scottish Association of EHF and FIH.

England Hockey was founded on 1 January 2003 as the successor of the English Hockey Association (EHA ). This went into bankruptcy in 2002. The EHA had emerged in 1996 from the merger of the national ( English ) hockey associations of men's, women's and mixed hockey.

The international tasks took over after the bankruptcy of the first EHA World Class Hockey Limited, which was funded by Sport England, the national sports federation. On 1 July 2005 England Hockey also took over these tasks.
