England Hockey League

The England Hockey League is the highest English Hockey League (field). Although the sport of hockey in England from the Hockey Association and the All England Women's Association was organized since the late 19th century, it took until 1958 to the Men's County Championships, comparable to the countries Cup in Germany, a national championship was held. Ten years later, this competition was also introduced with the ladies.

A first and so far unique nationwide club championship was held in preparation for the Olympic Summer Games in 1972, as the normal field hockey season in England ended in April. Throughout the 70s and 80s a variety of local and regional leagues until 1989 the England Hockey League was introduced originated. In 2006, the English Hockey Association, England Hockey, winning the company Slazenger league sponsor.
