Englehart River in Charlton

The Englehart River is a right tributary of the Blanche River in Timiskaming District in northeastern Ontario, Canada.

The Englehart River rises north of Duck Lakes in case of Bompas Township. It flows in a predominantly south-easterly direction, it has a strongly meandering behavior. At its river is the Englehart River Fine Sand Plain and Waterway Provincial Park. 34 km of the river are located within the protected area. This extends to the Long Lake, a 24 km long river widening of the Englehart River. Then the Englehart River flows east through Charlton. He overcomes further downstream in Cape Kig - Iwan Provincial Park, the eponymous Cape Kig Iwan Falls. Shortly thereafter, the river turns north and flows through the city Englehart by a further 3 km to lead it into the Blanche River.

The Englehart River has a length of about 100 km. Its catchment area includes more than 1100 km ².

The middle reaches of the Englehart River runs along the Cross Lake Fault Fault. This forms the southwestern boundary of the Lake Timiskaming Rift Valley, a grave system of the Precambrian shield.

Fauna

In the Englehart River following types of fish: Walleye, American lake trout, pike, burbot, Coregonus Artedi (English lake herring ), catfish, smallmouth bass, American perch and Redhorse Type Catostomus commersonii ( engl. white sucker ). The population of the American Arctic char is stored and is not indigenous.

Leisure

From the Ontario Highway 66 Bridge at the north end of the Englehart River Fine Sand Plain and Waterway Provincial Park leads a canoe route to the Cape - Kig - Iwan Provincial Park.
