English village

The Gyeonggi English Villages (English for " English villages Gyeonggi " ) are an institution in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi, whose goal is to create an English-speaking environment for learners of English in Korea. The students should learn English to life, for example in transport or while shopping.

In the village, the 150 teachers who for the most part have English as a mother tongue or Koreans are that dominate English fluently live. The teachers act as police officers, bank clerks or waitresses. There are also street hippies, but not real. The 700 students live up to four weeks and usually come in the classroom to talk from morning to evening English.

It was opened in April 2003 and has the legal form of a foundation under public law. The construction costs amounted to 70 million euros. More English villages are planned in Paju and Yangpyeong. After that, the concept is to be marketed as a franchise business.

Background

Send Korean families like their children to learn English abroad. Preferably, the U.S. is doing. The cost of up to 50,000 euros per year but can only raise large families.
