Enric Sagnier

Enric Sagnier i Villa Vecchia ( born March 21, 1858 in Barcelona, † September 1, 1931 ) was a Catalan architect and important representative of Modernism. Even if Sagnier is not one of the most famous representatives of Art Nouveau in Catalonia, yet the most productive with only about 30 buildings in Barcelona.

1882 licensed as an architect, Sagnier was one of the preferred architect of the haute bourgeoisie of Barcelona at the end of the 19th century and early 20th century. His clients, however, were companies, and state and religious institutions. So he designed in 1902 in collaboration with Pere Garcia i Faria, the building of Duana Nova (' New Customs inspection ') on Passeig Josep Carner and 1908 in collaboration with Josep Domènech i Estapa the Palau de Justícia (, Justice Palace ') on Passeig Lluís Companys.

His style has a wide variety of influences, ranging from the Gothic Revival, as in the building of Caixa de Pensions (, pension savings bank ') in Via Laietana, to the Rococo, as in the Casa arnus at Carrer Manuel arnus.
