Enrico Quarantelli

Louis Enrico "Henry" Quarantelli ( born November 10, 1924 in New York City ) is an American sociologist and pioneer of the disaster sociology.

Quarantelli studied sociology at the University of Chicago and received his PhD in 1959 ( Ph. D. ). From 1963 to 1984 he was professor of sociology at Ohio State University, where he founded the renowned Disaster Research Center, and from 1985-1998 at the University of Delaware, where he led the DRC. As a broad-based empirical research and inspirer of further research, he developed numerous practical suggestions for disaster protection.
