Enrico Tamberlik

Enrico Tamberli ( c ) k (also: Enrico Danieli, Nikita Torma; * March 16, 1820 in Rome, † March 13, 1889 in Paris ) was an Italian operatic tenor.

Tamberlik et al studied in Rome and Naples at Giacomo Guglielmi and sang 1837-38 at the Accademia Filarmonica Romana to Arnoldo in Rossini Guglielmo Tell and Gennaro in Lucrezia Borgia Gaetano Donizettid. He initially joined as a concert singer and debuted in 1841 at the Teatro al Fondo in Milan - still under the pseudonym Enrico Danieli - as Tebaldo in Vincenzo Bellini's I Capuleti ei Montecchi. From 1842 he also appeared in san Carlo ( debut with Luigi Bordeses I quindici ) at the Teatro. He made his international debut in 1845 at the Teatro S. Carlos in Lisbon in the opera I Lombardi.

It was followed by engagements in Madrid ( until 1847 ) and Barcelona, and 1850-1864, he appeared regularly at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, in parallel, even at the Mariinsky Theatre and the Italian Opera in St. Petersburg. In 1862 he sang at the Bolshoi Theatre Kamennyi in the presence of Giuseppe Verdi Don Alvaro in the world premiere of the opera La forza del destino meantime. In an appearance at the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre in Verdi's Il Trovatore in 1870 Tamerlik was booed what Tchaikovsky led to an open letter in his defense. 1882 ended Tamberlik his career as a singer.

Tamberlik was considered stylistically confident singer of great musicality, dramatic expression, darstellerischem talent and great stage presence. The company's extensive and versatile repertoire - he sang during his career, more than 100 leading roles - were, among others Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Robert in Robert le diable and Jean de Leyde in Le prophète by Giacomo Meyerbeer, the Lionel in Friedrich von Flotow's Martha, the Manrico in Il trovatore and the prince in Rigoletto by Verdi and the Florestan in Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio.
