Enrique Banchs

Enrique Banchs ( born February 8, 1888 in Buenos Aires, † June 6, 1968 ) was an Argentine poet.

Banchs worked as a journalist for newspapers and magazines such as " La Prensa ", " Atlantida " and some time he served as executive editor of the " El de la educacion monitor común ". During the presidency Juan Perón Banchs was arrested and spent some time in prison ( Peronism ).

The Academia Argentina de Letras took him in 1941 as a member. From Banchs ' inaugural speech, many hoped for an explanation for his literary silence. Throughout his life refused Banchs about any information.

Reception

Up to the age of 23 (1911 ) published four volumes of poetry Banchs his, with whom he immediately Leopoldo Lugones turned out. Some literary critics see in it today (2010 ) is still one of the greatest poets of Argentina. After publication of his work " La urna " he finished more or less his literary work. In addition to his journalistic work Banchs published during his lifetime, only a few short stories in literary magazines.

Banchs preferred in his literary work in the form of the sonnet. In his style, he was arrested and the classicism of his inspiration from the Golden Age of Spain.
