Ensemble DRAj

Ensemble DRAj is a klezmer group from Germany. The ensemble DRAj devotes his work to the song in Yiddish. The term DRAj is the Yiddish term for three.

Musical direction

The ensemble DRAj trying to be the Yiddish lyrics meet with his chamber music arrangements. The musical style means used do not correspond to those of the usual klezmer music. The members will contribute their experiences from the classical, the modern and jazz.

History

Founded ensemble DRAj by Anette Krüger ( vocals), Ralf Kaupenjohann ( accordion) and Ludger Schmidt ( cello) 1996. November 9, 1997, she first presented the program of songs from the ghettos to the public in Kunstschacht Katernberg in Essen.

In 2000, the first CD of songs released on the label Essen EthnoArt from the ghettos. In 2001, Ensemble DRAj received an invitation to the first Buenos Aires Klezmer Festival in Argentina. The festival was accounted for because of the attacks in New York on 11 September 2001, a year later, the ensemble DRAj played at the invitation of the Goethe Institut Lisbon Europe at the local festival.

The singer Anette Kruger left in 2003, the ensemble DRAj. In their place, Manuela Weichenrieder sang at the show with the new lineup for the 1st Bremer Klezmer Festival in September 2003., 2005, the WDR 3 did a feature on ensemble DRAj. At the beginning of 2006, the CD was released Kinderjorn at Bremen label Laika. " CD of the Week " in blue rhythm.

Ensemble DRAj was sent by the WDR as the German representative to the EBU Folk Music Festival 2006 by Kaustinen (Finland). In the competition Creole - 1st Prize for World Music from NRW DRAj took part in the qualifying for the federal decision. In November 2006, the Group launched a new project with the Dortmund writers Jürgen Wiersch in the power house of the Zeche Carl in Essen.

2007 was the WDR concert in Dortmund's domicil in the series The concert. In 2008 the ensemble DRAj the only German group to Yewish International Music Festival Amsterdam ( NL) and the Festival del aire son ( ES) was invited in 2009 to the Finnish festival Sata -Häme Soi after Ikaalinen. In the spring of 2009, there were first appearances with the Spanish musicians Germán Díaz ( hurdy-gurdy ) and Diego Martín (drums) in Spain. This resulted in a joint program with Sephardic songs, with the quintet ensemble DRAj y Marisco fresco in the autumn of 2009 and 2010 toured Germany. In 2010, appeared in Spain nube de nanas the sampler para aspace with a contribution of ensemble DRAj the label Producciones Efímeras. In May 2011, the CD was released Ale shvestern also the label Laika in Bremen. In autumn 2011, the ensemble DRAj the festival trans vocal to Frankfurt ( Oder) was invited.
