Ensemble l'Itinéraire

The ensemble l' Itinéraire is a French ensemble. It was founded in 1973 by Michaël Levinas, Tristan Murail, Hugues Dufourt, Gérard Grisey and Roger Tessier and is closely linked to the French group of composers L' Itinéraire.

The Paris-based ensemble dedicated exclusively to contemporary music; along with the dissemination of works of the group L' Itinéraire it was already in the 1970s, helping to make Giacinto Scelsi known in wider circles. Among the many world premieres are to a large extent compositions by French composers. The ensemble presented, inter alia, CD recordings with works by Franck Bedrossian, Bruno Mantovani and Marc- André Dalbavie ago, next to works by the Co-founder Michaël Levinas, Tristan Murail, Gérard Grisey and Hugues Dufourt. The ensemble is regarded as one of Europe's leading ensembles for contemporary music.
