Entolomataceae

Giant Anthias ( Entoloma sinuatum )

The fungi of the family Rötlingsverwandten ( Entolomataceae ) are a very diverse group with more than 350 representatives in Central Europe. They stand out by their pink to pink-brown colored powder spores of other fungal groups.

An unambiguous determination of the numerous species, in particular in the genus Rötlinge ( Entoloma ), is almost impossible without the aid of a light microscope. Important distinctions are usually special surface structure of the spores, the nature of the Hutdeckschicht ( hat skin ), the shape of the Zystiden or the presence or absence of buckles.

The ecological amplitude of the representatives of Rötlingsverwandten ranges from saprobiontischen Deadwood residents to obligate mycorrhizal fungi.

System

The most important genera within the Rötlingsverwandten are:

  • Rötlinge ( Entoloma ) with angled spores
  • Räslinge ( Clitopilus ) with longitudinally ribbed spores
