Enver Ä°zmaylov

Enver Izmailov ( Enver Ismailov and Izmailov; Russian Энвер Измайлов ) ( b. 1955 in Fergana, Uzbek SSR ) is a Ukrainian folk and jazz guitarist. The son of a Krimtatarenfamilie who had been forcibly relocated from the Crimean peninsula (Ukraine ) to Uzbekistan, returned in 1989 back to the Crimea.

Ismailov not plucking the strings, but uses jazz tapping exclusively to a special technique of electric guitar: The fingertips of both hands typing on the fretboard to the strings, with similar movements such as the termination of piano keys. Without looking up from U.S. colleagues like particularly to know Stanley Jordan, he developed the technique independently and at the same time or even earlier, to an astonishing maturity.

Enver Izmailov completed in 1973 to study music in Fergana majoring in bassoon. He had begun to play with 15 years ( to 1970) guitar.

Ismailovs Music is an independent mix of mainstream jazz, Turkish, Uzbek and Balkan music and European classical music. Many of his pieces are in rhythms that are not used in the West, in South-Eastern European and Central Asian music, however, very well, such as 5 /8, 7/8, 9/8, 11/ 8, 11 /16 and 13/16-Takte.

Ismailov is extensively in Russia, the other CIS countries and occurred in Western Europe and has participated in several cross-cultural projects in Eastern Europe. He was the winner of the first European guitar competition in 1995 in Lausanne. The Ukrainian music critics voted him the musician of the year 1995.
