Ephel Duath (band)

Ephel Duath is an Italian Extreme and progressive metal band from Padua, founded in 1998.

History

The band was formed in 1998 initially only as a studio project by Davide Tiso (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Giuliano Mogicato (vocals, electric guitar, electric bass). Together, they recorded their first demo, which bore the name Opera and were deducted from the over 1000 copies. In 2000, her debut album Phormula appeared. After that, the band reached a deal with Elitist Records, a sublabel of Earache Records, and released their debut album under the name Rephormula and with bonus tracks again. Following the publication of bassist and vocalist Fabio Fecchio Davide Tolomei, and drummer Davide Piovesan came to occupy. A short time later, singer Luciano Lorusso George was occupied. Afterwards, the group went into the studio to record the album The Painter's Palette. This was followed by live performances, with vocalist Davide Tolomei got out later in the band.

In December 2004, followed by appearances with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Poison the Well, the band of trombonist Federico Nalesso was supported. In February 2005, the band went back into the studio. As the recording of this album Pain Necessary to Know were terminated, leaving drummer Davide Piovesan the band and was replaced initially by Andrea Rabuini. Since the occupation of that time changed frequently appeared only a remix album called Pain Remixes The Unknown in the following years. Performances took place only sporadically. On the next album Through My Dog 's Eyes were heard next Tiso drummer Marco Minnemann ( ex- Necrophagist ) and singer Luciano George Lorusso. Then the band went into a break and signed up in 2012 with the EP On Death and Cosmos back. The band consisted of bassist Steve DiGiorgio next Tiso, singer Karyn Crisis and drummer Marco Minnemann.

Style

The band's music is difficult to assign a genre. Initially the pieces were technically demanding and took bonds from different genres like jazz, black metal and noisecore. The music has avant-garde features and can be compared to some extent with bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Cynic and Fantômas. The later works are much less complex and have a simpler song structure.
