Episcopal Diocese of Washington

The Episcopal Diocese of Washington is the ecclesiastical territory or " diocese " of the Episcopal Church in the United States, consisting of the District of Columbia and the Maryland counties of Charles, St. Mary's, Prince George's and Montgomery. Its main church is the one that is unofficially known as the Washington National Cathedral Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, and at the intersection of Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues in Washington, DC is located. The administrative center of the Diocese is located on Mount Saint Albans.

Mariann Edgar Budde is the current Bishop of Washington and the ninth in the order of the diocese. She is the first woman to take up this role.
