EPoX

EPoX (derived from the Greek term εποχή = " epoch" ) was a Taiwanese manufacturer of motherboards and similar hardware as well as communication devices (Bluetooth, graphics cards). The company was founded in February 1995 and included at their best time approximately 200 employees; Shares can be traded on OTC Company headquarters are in Taipei, Taiwan. The mainboard of the company have a reputation for being good overclockable.

In 2002, EPoX was successful with boards like the EP- 8K3A or EP 8K5A3 the three largest motherboard sellers in Europe. Poor quality capacitors and MOSFETs on the boards caused mid-2003, however, an accumulation of hardware failures, which led to a large number of complaints. EPoX was due to this temporary quality problems a very immense damage it, from which the company could not quite recover - despite solid and even very good boards like the EP- 9NPA SLI for Socket 939, which on the one hand, very good overclocking features offered, on the other hand also was very fast and stable. Characteristic for EPoX motherboards were green or black PCBs, which were equipped with colored expansion slots.

EPoX offered the only company to an SLI -enabled motherboard for Socket 754.

The former Elito EPoX GmbH has its retail and dealer support in Germany discontinued in 2005. With the introduction of the RoHS Directive in Europe on July 1, 2006, EPoX has withdrawn from the European market, although EPoX had RoHS compliant boards in its product portfolio. EPoX introduced in 2006 a new series of motherboards, where the product line for enthusiasts got the name " Optimus ". The black and red icon should represent the "element" fire.

In early 2007 a ​​deal was bursting to do a check of U.S. $ 300 000, indicating financial problems on the part EPoX. EPoX was not represented at the Cebit 2007 or Computex. Since 26 June 2007, the headquarters for Europe in the Netherlands is closed for financial reasons.

Since April 2007, there is a successor company called SuPoX which from part of the EPoX employees - was founded - mainly engineers. The production line was taken over and partly supplemented, in particular by versions that have been lightened by a few features.
