Equestrian at the 2004 Summer Paralympics

In the Summer Paralympics in Athens 2004 medals were awarded in Markopoulo Olympic Equestrian Centre in nine events.

Classes

The competitions in the riding were divided into the following four degrees of disability:

  • Grade 1: Mainly wheelchair users with reduced balance and / or impairment of both arms and legs, or without body balance and good Armfunktionalität, or excessive body balance and substantial damage to both arms and legs.
  • Grade 2: Mainly wheelchair users, but also hard physically handicapped with limited trunk control and good to moderate Armkontrolle or unilateral damage.

Competition

Men and women fighting in common competitions. The horses are also declared as a medalist.

For each level of disability, there are individual competitions in dressage, once a duty ( Championships task ) and once the separately -evaluated freestyling in music. In addition to the team competition, may compete in the four horsemen. Join to four riders, one represents the String Evaluation.

German team

Hannelore Brenner had to give as high favorite for a launch in the duty, because her mare Fabiola had to be taken due to a Huflederhautentzündung from the competition.
