Équeurdreville-Hainneville

Équeurdreville -Hainneville is a commune with 17,386 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. It is located in Cherbourg- Octeville and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the eponymous canton Équeurdreville -Hainneville.

Geography

Équeurdreville -Hainneville is located directly on the English Channel. To the east of Cherbourg- Octeville is adjacent to the church. To the south lies Nouianville, southwest Flottemanville -Hague, in the west ton Ville and to the northwest Querqueville.

History

1055 Notre- Dame d' Assomption was erected by the Bishop of Coutances, Geoffroy de Montbray in Équeurdreville. Also built in the 11th century the Church of Hainneville. For the Second World War the Navy Équerdreville Fort was built near the village of Brécourt. In 1965, the formerly independent villages and Équeurdreville Hainneville were merged to form the present-day community.
