Éragny-sur-Oise

Éragny (also Éragny -sur -Oise called ) is a commune with 16,912 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the north- west of Paris. It is about 30 km from Paris city center, is located in the Communauté d' agglomération de Cergy- Pontoise, in the canton of Cergy- Sud. The inhabitants are called Éragniens or Éragniennes.

Geography

Éragny lies on the Oise River and is part of the ville nouvelle of Cergy- Pontoise. The communities that surround Éragny, are in the north of Saint- Ouen- l'Aumône, in the east Herblay, in the south of Conflans -Sainte -Honorine, in the southwest Neuville- sur- Oise. History

As Heriniacus or Aeriniacus the church has been designated in the early Middle Ages. Until the 19th century Éragny had no more than 500 inhabitants. As was done with the 20th century, the connection to the railway network, the population increased considerably.
