The Eravisci probably came from the north and conquered the area previously inhabited by Illyrians.

After the annexation of a large part of the country eraviskischen into the Roman Empire to at least 11 BC, the Eravisci preserved for a long time its own culture. The apparently good relations with the Romans indicated by the fact that the invaders of the oppidum at Gellért Hill never conquered and destroyed. From stone reliefs and grave stones is known that Celtic clothing and jewelry Celtic maintained their importance in the often fast Romanized upper class. After the Pannonian revolt (6-9 AD) against the Romans was settled on the area around the Danube Budapest castle - Albertfalva a large part of Eravisci from Gellért Hill. The named by the Romans probably Mons Teutanus Gellért Hill remained inhabited until after the middle of the 3rd century.

Culture

Culturally Eravisci were strongly influenced by the Illyrians. As a tribal god is from the Roman period a Jupiter Teutanus known. Since this was obviously equated with Jupiter in Latin, it has eventually traded to the Celtic god of the sky. Several inscriptions between the years 178 and 288 AD are dated on 11 June, a few days before the summer solstice, probably the date on which the god was celebrated.
