Erdberg (Vienna U-Bahn)

The station Erdberg the Vienna U -Bahn line U3 is an aboveground station in the 3rd district of Vienna highway. It was opened on 6 April 1991, formed about ten years, until the opening of the fifth so far last section of the U3 between Erdberg and Simmering the eastern terminus of the line. The name of the station goes back to the old suburb Erdberg, which was mentioned by name for the first time in the 12th century in a document. According to legend, the English King Richard the Lionheart said to have been captured on the way back from the Third Crusade.

The station extends at street level between the city -away situated Franzosengraben and stadteinwärtsseitigen Nottendorfergasse parallel to Erdbergstraße and is run over by Südosttangente. The station has a center platform. From both ends of outputs carry a hand in the Nottendorfergasse and partly on the French trench and a caged dock at a park-and- ride facilities and the customer center of the Wiener Linien, which is located here since 1994. Another barrier-free access leads to the Schnirchgasse. Immediately after the station area is the operating station Erdberg, which is connected by means of operational track under Südosttangente with the new northern branch of U2.

In the immediate vicinity is the Event Center Arena, the Austrian State Archives in Nottendorfergasse, the Austrian control center for the civil aviation Austro Control and the entry point of the bus company Euro Lines.

Configuration

Outdoors on the Erdbergstraße two murals by the artist Peter Atanasov installed since 1991. When starting Nottendorfergasse the image into town and when it Erdbergstraße the image is out of town. The existing of hand- painted tiles surfaces show a quiet, friendly city landscapes, are incorporated into the numerous symbols. As a tribute to the subway can be seen on both images per a stylized tunnel and a Rose plant.
