Erdmuthe Dorothea of Reuss-Ebersdorf

Erdmuthe Dorothea, Countess von Zinzendorf, born Countess Reuss to Ebersdorf, (* November 7, 1700 in Ebersdorf, † June 19, 1756 in Herrnhut ) was a German Pietist hymns and poet.

Life

The daughter of Count Heinrich X. Reuss to Ebersdorf and Benigna of Solms- Laubach Erdmuthe enjoyed a pietistic upbringing Philipp Jacob Spener according to the principles. During a visit of Count Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf occasion of the wedding of his friend, Count Heinrich XXIX. Reuss to Ebersdorf 1721 he learned his sister " Erdmuth " know. Erdmuthe who had learned from her mother's business and administration, took over the business management for the possession of her husband in Berthelsdorf and the settlement of Herrnhut newly established. In the Moravian Church, it became the head of the nurse's home, entertained an orphanage and acted as housemother. After the first expulsion of her husband, he wrote to her in 1732 to possession.
