Éric Bellocq

Éric Bellocq ( born September 8, 1962) is a French guitarist, lutenist, Theorbenspieler, he is mainly active in the field of historical performance practice as a soloist and basso companion.

Life

Éric Bellocq studied until 1983 guitar and lute at the Paris Conservatoire in the class of Alexandre Lagoya and Early Music with William Christie. From 1983 to 1990 he was a member of various early music ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Les Talens Lyriques, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Café Zimmermann, La Fenice and more.

Parallel to his career in larger formations to Bellocq specialized. On solo tasks, he accompanied the countertenor Dominique Visse in a program comprising works of Guillaume de Machaut to Berio With a juggler, he created a special program under the title Le Chant des balles, which combines the musical improvisation in early music with the juggling. Since the 1990s, Bellocq accompanied many smaller formations around soloists such as soprano Agnès Mellon, violinist Hélène Schmitt, the recorder player Maurice Steger and others.

Éric Bellocq is a professor at the Paris Conservatoire ( CNSMDP ) for historical performance practice, sounds and their related instruments. His discography includes 30 recordings with solo and chamber music, and a further 30 with larger ensembles.
