Eric Paterson

Eric Evan Paterson ( born September 11, 1929 in Edmonton, Alberta; † January 14, 2014 in Sherwood Park, Alberta) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Eric Paterson played during his career as a professional ice hockey goaltender for the Edmonton Maple Leafs in Edmonton Junior Hockey League, for whom he played for two years. He then played one year for the Regina Caps in the Western Canada Hockey League Major. With the Edmonton Mercurys, to which he came only a few months before the tournament, he represented Canada at the 1952 Winter Olympics. In the season 1953/54, he ran on in the Western International Hockey League for the Nelson Leafs. In the season 1958/59 he was in a game for the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Hockey League between the posts as well as in seven games for the Rossland Warriors from the Wihl. He then ended his hockey career.

Internationally

For Canada Paterson participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 in part in Oslo, where he won the gold medal with his team.
