Eric Robertson (composer)

Eric Nathan Robertson ( born April 6, 1948 in Edinburgh) is a native of Scotland Canadian composer, organist and pianist.

Robertson studied in Edinburgh organ, piano and music theory with Thomas E. Francis, Eric Reid and William O. Minay. In 1963 he went to Toronto, where he was a pupil of Charles Peaker ( organ) and Samuel Dolin (composition). In addition, he was organist and choirmaster at St John 's Lutheran Church and played the organ in the rhythm-and - blues band Majestics. From 1966 to 1990 he was choirmaster and organist at the Humbercrest United Church, then at the St. Paul 's Anglican Church. In 1978 he became musical director of the CBC TV show The Tommy Hunter Show. As a producer he released albums, inter alia, Liona Boyd, Moe Koffman, Nana Mouskouri and Roger Whittaker. His own album Magic Melodies was released internationally 1.25 million times.

In addition to choral and organ works - among others Four Songs of Remembrance ( 1983) and Another Spring ( 1988) for chorus and orchestra, jazz Magnificat for choir and jazz band and Variations on the ' Sussex Carol ' for choir and organ - composed Robertson more than 60 film scores and music for several television series.
