Eric Till

Eric Till (* November 24, 1929 in London ) is a British film director, producer and screenwriter, who has worked in Canada, the United States and Europe.

In Germany he is through his films Bonhoeffer - The final stage and Luther become known.

Career

He first led well in 1960 in the Canadian television series Festival Director. After he ( the episode: Pale Horse, Pale Rider ) The Wednesday Play and the Armchair Theatre ( the episode: The Gaming Book) had staged in England, he emigrated in 1954 to Canada, the country in which he probably had his already mentioned film directorial debut. Since that time, he also brought in American- Canadian co-production directed by, for example, 1979 An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler as the main character, and in 1992, in Catch a Killer Brian Dennehy, in the movie the serial killer John Wayne Gacy plays. With Bonhoeffer - The final stage (2000) and Luther ( 2003), he won fame in Germany.

But Till was not limited to dramatic film productions, Till has also directed television broadcasts of the National Ballet of Canada ( National Ballet of Canada ), the Bolshoi Ballet and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and at the last concert of the famous conductor Sir Thomas Beecham Director.

Awards

In 2005 he was awarded the Governor General's Award for Lifetime Achievement by Adrienne Clarkson.

In 2008, Till was awarded the Director's Guild of Canada 's Lifetime Achievement Award (2008).
