Eric Varley

Eric Graham Varley, Baron Varley PC ( born August 11, 1932 † 29 July 2008) was a British politician ( Labour Party ).

Career

Varley was from 1964 to 1984 member of the House of Commons for the electoral district of Chesterfield. From March 5, 1974 to June 10, 1975, he was Minister of Energy and June 10, 1975 to May 4, 1979 Minister of Economic Affairs. From 1981 to 1983 he was Treasurer of the Labour Party. He was raised to 1990 life peer. He died on 29 July 2008 at the age of 75 years to cancer.
