Erick Walder

Erick Walder ( born November 5, 1971 in Alabama ) is a former American track and field athlete, who competed mainly in the long jump.

His greatest achievement was winning the silver medal at the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens. With a length of 8.38 m, it just jumped four inches shorter than the winner, Iván Pedroso of Cuba. More international medals won Walder at IAAF World Indoor Championships. Both in 1995 in Barcelona and 1999 in Maebashi, he finished in third place.

Walder was tested positive in June 2004 during a doping control for amphetamine and methamphetamine, after which he received a two-year competition ban. He is 1.86 m tall and had a competition weight of 80 kg.
