Erik Börjesson

Erik Oskar " Börje " Börjesson ( born December 1, 1888 in Jonsered, community Partille; † July 17, 1983 in Partille, Västra Götaland County ) was a Swedish football player.

Career

Börjesson played at the beginning of his career in his hometown at Jonsered GIF. In 1907, joined the Forward IFK Göteborg, where he was the best player. 1910 to 1912 he played for Örgryte IS, at that time the most important team in Sweden. Then he returned to IFK Göteborg. In 1914 he received after a friendly match an offer from Liverpool to change as a professional player for England, however, the Börjesson refused. In 1920 he announced his retirement, but tried a comeback in 1923 as player-coach at Örgryte IS. In 1925, he ended his career, during which he won three Swedish championship final.

On July 12, 1908 Börjesson was part of the contingent of the Swedish national team in their first international match. Norway was thereby struck with 11:3. The country selection, he took part in the Olympic Games of 1912 in Stockholm. Overall, he played 17 international matches for Sweden and scored twelve goals.

2004 Börjesson was inducted into the Hall Of Fame SFS. His son Reino Börjesson also played in the national team.
