Erkki Kohvakka

Erkki Kohvakka ( born July 2, 1937 in Kangasniemi ) is a former Finnish orienteers. It was 1964 double European champion.

In the first Orienteering Championships 1962 in Løten Kohvakka was at a gap of almost eleven minutes on the winner Magne Lystad from Norway fifth at the individual competition over 16.5 kilometers and 13 items. The relay competition could win the Finnish team consisting of Aimo Tepsell, Esko Vainio, Rolf Koskinen and Erkki Kohvakka. However, the relay race was not an official part of the competition program of the first European Championships. Two years later Kohvakka could win a race at the European Championships in Le Brassus in Switzerland. With a nearly two-minute lead before he won the Swiss Alex Schwager and Aimo Tepsell. As a finisher he brought also with the Finnish relay consisting of Juhani Salmenkylä, Rolf Koskinen and Aimo Tepsell another gold medal. 1966 won the same relay at the World Championships in the Finnish Fiskars the silver medal. In the individual competition Kohvakka occupied in 1966 to eleventh place.

Kohvakka, who won seven Finnish championship, the club Kangasniemen Kalske belonged to.
