Erlenbach, also called Erlenbach on Lake Zurich, is a municipality in Switzerland. It is located on the lower right bank of Lake Zurich at the so-called Gold Coast in the district in the canton of Zurich miles.

Blazon

The coat of arms shows a rod cross that was in its original form the arms of the Hospitallers removed. It dates from 1597 and refers to the tax obligations of Erlenbacher against the Johanniterhaus Küsnacht, which continued until 1703. Originally by 1597 the coat of arms of a faceted Tatzenkreuz consists on a black background.

Geography

  • Area: 288.7 ha, of which 43.1% settlements, 24.2% agriculture, 22.6% forest, 9.7% transport and 1.1% water.

The neighboring municipalities are Küsnacht in the north and in the south Herrliberg.

Erlenbach - angle is a prehistoric settlement site on Lake Zurich in the field of community Erlenbach.
