Ernst Adolf Coccius

Ernst Adolf Coccius ( born September 19, 1825 Knauthain, † November 24, 1890 in Leipzig ) was a German ophthalmologist.

Life

Ernst Adolf Coccius studied in Leipzig, Prague and Paris medicine. In 1848 he received his doctorate with a work De morbis typhum sequentibus and then worked at the Leipzig eye clinic as an assistant Erich Friedrich Philipp ride. Coccius ' Habilitation took place in 1851, the appeals to associate professor in 1857 followed, the full professor in 1867. Starting this year was Coccius director of the eye clinic in Leipzig, a position he held until his death. He was succeeded by Hubert Sattler.

Honor

Coccius was elected in 1867 in the Leopoldina. Since 1938, a street named after him in Coccius ' birthplace Knauthain.
