Ernst Behmer

Ernst Behmer ( born December 22, 1875 in Königsberg, † February 26, 1938 in Berlin) was a German actor.

Life

The trained pharmacist first played for amateur theaters and received his first firm commitment as an actor in 1902 at the Berlin Luise Theatre. More gigs followed in Aachen, Bromberg, Altenburg, Kassel and Nuremberg. Since 1908 he lived in Berlin.

Here he continued his stage career, and came in 1909 to his first film role. He usually represented simple, humble people, but also nerds, fathers and dignitaries, he was often in a humorous article in the 1930s, one of the busiest supporting cast of older men in the German sound film. Behmer died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
