Ernst Dumcke

Ernst Dumcke ( born November 13, 1887 in Mannheim, † June 21, 1940 in Berlin) was a German actor.

Life

The son of the Director General of the Frankfurt insurance AG Paul Dumcke grew up in Frankfurt and received acting lessons at the conservatory. He began his stage career in 1904 in his hometown of Mannheim, then moved to Breslau and came to Berlin in 1907, where he performed at the Comedy House, the Residenz Theater and the German Art Theatre. Even before the First World War he became a member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater.

After the first silent film appearances but Dumcke gave up his father's wish on his acting career and worked in Vienna in the insurance business. After the collapse of the insurance company in 1929 Dumcke returned to the acting profession. In 1930 he again played at the Deutsches Theater, and from 1931 he has taken on numerous roles like in the film. Dumcke embodied in the film mostly respect people of all kinds, particularly directors, counts and princes. In the Heinz Riihmann film The Outsider he played a leading role in a team owner, in which Hans Albers movie hangman, women and soldiers a captain.
