Ernst von Ihne

Ernst Eberhard von Ihne (* May 23, 1848 in Elberfeld, † April 21, 1917 in Berlin) was a German architect and master builder of the German Emperor Frederick III. and Wilhelm II

Life

He studied, among others, at the building of the Technical University of Karlsruhe, the Berlin Building Academy and the École nationale supérieure des beaux -arts de Paris.

Ihne was one of the main proponents of historicism. With his partner Paul Stegmüller he opened in 1877 in Berlin an "office for architecture and applied arts " and designs include furniture; He was a founding member of the Association of Berlin architects.

Ihne initially preferred the German Renaissance with French influences. Many of his buildings were constructed in the style of the Berlin neo-baroque, while the works of his late period are influenced ( after 1900 ) by the English country house style.
